I have had this photo on my computer forever...I have no idea what site it came from.
I NEED THESE CHAIRS!!!
I am finally ready to buy new chairs for around my old farm table...and these gorgeous metal chairs are the ones!
Anyone out there ever seen anything like these before in a store...or online?
I was able to find the chair I have shown below in the Sundance catalog...but these are just not quite the same. I sat in this style at Crate & Barrel...and they just "lean back" too far for an everyday chair. The ones shown in my first photo are more like a "regular chair".
Does any of this make sense...or do you all just think I have totally lost my mind now!?
If you have chosen the latter...you are probably right.
Help!

Try Sundance catalog...they usually have some kind of metal chairs and stools.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Ikea? Maybe not online but in their store if you are near one.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the exact chair, but you definitely want something that is galvanized. Crate and Barrel has one and you can also find one at http://www.antiquaireonline.com/?p=2668. I hope that has helped!

ReplyDeleteOk.. Im going to have to scour old magazines... Im thinking that picture was either from Better Homes or Country Living, the lady that had those chairs bought them used and actually had them nickel plated... (Because I thought.. WHO would pay the $$ to have that done when they could be Painted?? lol) I remember that picture clear as day though!
ReplyDeleteI really like the other example youve shown, and I bet you might find something at mothology... for a pretty penny, of course!

I love her site. She has a way of finding anything for less!
Mary,
ReplyDeleteThose chairs are from an issue of 'Cottage Living'. I'm not sure of the month and date, but I can check and let you know. They were vintage metal school chairs that they had taken and had nickle plated. I know this because I have every issue of Cottage Living (so sad it's gone) and this picture is one that I have bookmarked. I have been scouring auctions, flea markets and tag sales for 2 years trying to find old metal school chairs that nobody wants because I too love this look! I also went so far as to check with a metal coating place in my area and they said it would be around $20 a chair to have them nickle coated. Now I just need to find the chairs. I am in the midwest in the Kansas City area so if anybody reading this blog wants to get rid of some metal chairs...I'll take them! Also....LOVE your blog!!
Check out CB2 and Eurway - I have seen them there before. If you find some great ones with a steal of a price - Maggie Jo is looking for them too :)

I should have added that if you go to the ebay link I mentioned in my last comment...you may want to click on their oter items for sale. They have some that look more like the one that you referenced.
ReplyDeleteI promise this will be my last comment??? I have a link to the closest match I could find. The ad says they ship 12 or more. That is not true. I emailed them for a friend of mine and they gave me a shipping quote on 4 chairs. It was very reasonable.
ReplyDeleteI'm no help hon, but oh I hope you find them, they are super fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your quest :) I too remember that picture. I remember how much I loved the metal with the rustic wood.
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to similar chairs...

You would probably have to strip them to get the finish you are looking for. Have fun on your journey!
Actually...I found them :)
ReplyDeleteThey are vintage toledo chairs.
